Guide to Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If you want something we do not have, we can request another library to loan it to you through us. It's called Interlibrary Loan!

You can request:

  • Books
  • Audiobooks (on CD and Playaway)
  • Music on CD

As long as it's at least one year old. We might be able to find a journal or magazine article, but we will need to know the full citation. To make an ILL request, visit the library in person or contact us at

While you wait for your book...

You may be waiting several weeks to know for sure whether we can get the book. Libraries that partner with us for Interlibrary Loan must be asked one at a time, and they have up to four days to respond.

You may be waiting several weeks to receive the book. We are partners with libraries all across the lower 48 states, so sometimes these books travel by mail.

You can call us anytime to inquire about the status of your Interlibrary Loan. We monitor them regularly.

When you get your book...

Your due date is given when you check out your ILL item. This is set by the library that owns the item and cannot be changed. There are no renewals.

Do not remove the sleeve around the cover. If the sleeve is lost, there is a replacement fee of $3.00.

Overdue fines are $.25 per day.
