Check out a bike with your library card!

Ride the trails through Kopf Family Reservation, explore the community, or ride to the beach on a sunny Lake Erie afternoon on one of our bikes. Bikes are available during the warmer seasons.

How to Borrow a Bike

  • Must be 18 years old and up.
  • Hold a valid ALPL library card.
  • Wear bicycle helmet.
  • Sign and date library bike agreement.

How it Works

  • Bikes are loaned out for one (1) day and are not renewable.
  • Bikes cannot be placed on hold.
  • One bicycle per library card.
  • Return same day half-hour prior to library closing.

Bike Safety and Other Perks

  • Chrome “ding-dong” bells
  • Reflective flashing head and taillights
  • Bike helmets (adult & children’s sizes)
  • Bike locks with individual combos
  • New bike racks
  • Bike FixIt repair service station.

The "Borrow a Bike" program is funded by interest earned on the Avon Lake Public Library Endowment Fund. Bicycles were purchased from Marty's Cycle Center in Avon Lake, OH.

Physical Description: 1 bicycle tagalong.
General Note: Helmet checkout required with bike checkout (if borrower does not provide their own), and must be worn while operating the bicycle.
Keep bicycle locked and secured when unattended.

Physical Description: 1 adult bicycle + 1 basket + 1 bicycle lock.
