DiscoveryWorks at Avon Lake Public Library is an extraordinary and unique learning environment where children, caregivers, families, and students of all ages and abilities experience the thrill of adventure and innovation, where playful exploration is encouraged, and discovery has no limits. We’re excited to be sharing the future changes coming to DiscoveryWorks in 2024 as a part of an inspiring remodel and redesign.

Initiative for Innovation

First opened to the public in 1995, DiscoveryWorks (DW) was designed as an inventive space to include a variety of interactive, multi-sensory, and hands-on learning exhibits. For almost 30 years of serving the community, DiscoveryWorks has proudly continued to be a place for generations of inquisitive minds, visionary thinkers, and daring dreamers.

The Initiative for Innovation is a $1.2 million giving effort to help generate support for the future of DiscoveryWorks at ALPL. We’re re-imaging many beloved areas of play, many drawing from our region’s rich history. Additional educational adventures will be incorporated into DW with new and imaginative exhibits as well. And we’ll be expanding the hours open to the public for more fun-filled engagement. Lastly, our classroom lab, which supports the local scientific curriculum throughout the year, will see a bright refresh.

This transformational investment in the future of DiscoveryWorks at Avon Lake Public Library will aid in allowing people of all backgrounds and abilities to achieve their highest potential, ensure today’s youth become tomorrow’s STEM leaders, and continue connecting our area’s rich past to a promising and exciting future.

Exploration STEM Wall

Looking into DiscoveryWorks, this vibrant art installation celebrates the diversity of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields and the community of Avon Lake. Each donation bubble represents a contribution ranging from $100 to $500.

Your donation is tax-deductible. 

Your gift includes a personalized and framed STEM bubble on the donor wall, two tickets to the preview night event, and a sponsor window decal.

Giving Form

Lake Life Wall

The Lake Life Wall, with gifts of $1,000-$5,000, donors can customize a native Lake Erie acrylic fish plaque that will be prominently located just inside DiscoveryWorks, which also doubles as an exhibit. The Lake Life exhibit includes a drawing station that transforms a visitor’s fish drawing into an animation that gets projected onto the wall.

Your gift includes a personalized fish plaque on the Lake Life exhibit wall, name recognition on our ALPL campaign website, two tickets to the preview night event, and a sponsor window decal.

Exhibit Sponsorship

Starting at $15,000+, you can sponsor one of the new or reimagined DiscoveryWorks exhibits for all visitors to engage with and enjoy. This gives you an opportunity to help support a reimagined current exhibit, create an exclusive one-of-a-kind customized exhibit, or fund a brand-new display.

Exhibits sponsorship opportunities are limited. Each exhibit is available for exclusive sponsorship rights. Your donation is tax-deductible. 

Options include updating favorite exhibits such as the Build-A-House, Planet Scale, Kaleidoscope, and others. You can also help bring a new experience to the community with a Bubble Booth or Praxiscope or collaborate with DW to create a specialized exhibit.

Your gift includes your name and/or display on the exhibit, Facebook recognition, a sponsor window decal, name recognition and a link on our ALPL campaign website, and two tickets to the preview night event.
