PUBLIC NOTICE
The Avon Lake Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking dedicated members of the
community to apply for appointment to an open trustee position. Library Trustees are
appointed by the Avon Lake Board of Education to serve four-year terms, and the new
appointee will serve from January 2027 through December 2030. The Avon Lake Public
Library Board consists of seven Trustees that are members of the Avon Lake community
and are not compensated for their service to the Library.
The Board of Library Trustees meets at 7:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month; in
addition, there may be work on committees such as Finance and Audit, Personnel, and
Building and Technology. The Board has three primary responsibilities: 1)
policymaking/policy approval; 2) fiscal oversight; 3) hiring and termination. The Board
also decides on Library ballot issues. A genuine interest in the Library and a willingness to
devote the necessary time are important factors in selection. Interested persons are invited
to fill out an application form by clicking the link below. Application forms should be completed no later than Friday, August 21.
For questions regarding this Trustee position, please contact Forrest Lykins, Library
