Celebrate the end of Summer Reading with a special activity for kids, teens, and adults to do at home! Pick up your kit at the Holds Pickup Window or through our Curbside Service. Registration starts July 19. Pick-Up the week of August 2. Ages 5+

Family Storytime at Home
Join the Children’s staff on the ALPL YouTube channel each week for a new story and rhyme. Stories are posted every Monday at 9am, May 24-August 9, and can be viewed anytime. Accompanying weekly craft bags can be picked up at the Holds Window or through Curbside Service, while supplies last.
Basketball & Books!
Avon Lake's own Jim "Basketball" Jones will provide a live performance of his basketball tricks and share his three children's books he co-authored with his wife Brenda (ALSD teacher). Program takes place outside, on the south lawn & will be cancelled for inclement weather. Please bring a blanket for seating. Masks optional.

Little Sprouts Backpacks
Borrow a thematic bag that includes a toy, beautiful flash cards to share, and words to some of our favorite fingerplays and lap bounces for young children. Choose a theme by filling out a form by clicking on the link below. (For Ages 0-2)
Targeted for older kids in grades K–6 who are ready to take on more challenging books with some of our favorite themes. Five to ten widely-loved beginning or chapter books are included in each bundle to boost reading comprehension skills, and encourage a love for reading. (For Grades K-6)

I Just Need Some Stuff From The Library!
Looking for library materials to share with your child, but don’t know where to start? Recommended for ages 0–12. fill out our form with some basic info, and we'll choose some of out favorite items personalized just for you!
A personally tailored subscription book box for Teens and Tweens! Boxes can be picked up each month through our curbside service or inside at our Holds window. Each box contains a library book, a book for you to keep, a bookmark, and a snack.
Brown Bag Science
Experiment, explore and create! Come inside (to the Holds window), or use curbside service to pick up materials for hands-on science and art activities you can do at home. Activities may require you to provide general supplies like glue, tape and scissors.
Bags will be available every other Thursday at 9 am, starting May 6, May 20, June 3, June 17, July 1, July 15, July 29, August 12.
