Join the Children’s staff on the ALPL YouTube channel each week for a quick story and rhyme at home. Accompanying craft bags will be available for pickup through our Curbside Service each Monday beginning at 10am. All ages. One craft bag/child/week.

Scavenger Hunt

The Children’s Department has put together monthly scavenger hunts outside the library building.  Pick up a scavenger hunt sheet from the box outside the south door or print one here.

Book and Activity Kits


Each bag includes great picture books to read aloud, music options, extension activities, and craft ideas that you can do at home. Themes include Wild Animals, Kindness Counts, Pets on Parade, and more.  Request a bag here or call the Children’s Desk at 440-933-8917.

The Children’s Department staff loves to put together bundles of books for any age reader or listener!  These bundles can be picked up through our Curbside Service or at the Holds Window.  To request a bundle, call the department at 933-8917 or use one of the online forms below.

I Just Need Some Books! Fill out the form to give us some basic info, then come pick up a bag of books, videos, or other materials.

DIY Story Time Bags Each bag includes 5-7 great picture books to read aloud and a handout with suggestions for music, extension activities, and craft suggestions that you can do at home.  Choose a theme on the form.

Themed Bundles 5-10 books for beginning readers or chapter books based on some of our favorite themes.  Choose a theme on the form.

Family Read Alouds Each book includes a reading & activity guide to help make the book more fun and meaningful.  Choose a title on the form.

Curbside Crafters

* Request a bag when you arrive at the library by calling the Curbside Desk at 440-933-8128. One per person, per week, while supplies last. May require general supplies like glue, markers, or pencils from home.


Winter Break Crafts

December 7-23 (as supplies last)

Stop by Curbside Service to pick up a salt dough craft kit to construct with your child over winter break. Kits include flour, salt, sparkly decorations, and a handout with instructions and pictures to inspire your creations. One kit per child while supplies last.

Family Story Time at Home

Geared toward ages 2-6

Crafts to accompany the virtual Family Story Time at Home program are available for pickup at the Holds Window or through Curbside Service beginning each Monday at 10am while supplies last throughout the week.  Watch the story & rhyme on the ALPL YouTube channel then pick up the craft to continue the fun! One craft bag/child/week through November 20.

Take Home Science Bags

Experiment, explore and create! Come inside (to the Holds window), or use curbside service to pick up materials for hands-on science and art activities you can do at home. Activities may require you to provide general supplies like glue, tape and scissors. One per child, per week, while supplies last.

Take Home Science Starters

These activities are designed for children ages 3-5, aided by an adult. You may need to provide general supplies like glue, tape and scissors.

Cuppas and Coppers

Sit down and enjoy a “cuppa”(British slang for a cup of coffee or tea) while discussing books by British authors featuring "coppers" from various walks of life. Meetings will be held via zoom. So if you fancy a cuppa, come and join us.

Read the book together as a family then get ready for the biggest trivia competition of the year….adults vs. kids for bragging rights and boxes of Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans to be picked up curbside.
