Friends of Avon Lake Public Library is dedicated to bringing a wide range of programming that enriches the lives of our patrons. Friends work in a variety of ways to support the Library and encourage literacy. Over the years the Friends have supported:

Rain Barrel Demonstration

Description : A rain barrel is an old-fashioned yet effective and low-cost way to conserve water and save money. One inch of rain on a 1,000 square foot roof yields 623 gallons of naturally soft water, devoid of minerals, chlorine, fluoride and other chemicals. Use of this water in your landscape in times of reduced rainfall can improve the health of your plants. The City of Avon Lake offers rain barrels and installation kits for only $20. City Engineer Joe Reitz will be here to demonstrate how to install the barrels. No registration is required but kits may be preordered by Friday, June 8 for pick-up at the program. Preorder at the Circulation desk or simply come to the program to find out if a rain barrel is a good choice for you.

Garden Stepping Stone

Description : Create your own mosaic garden stepping stone. All materials provided but you may bring any found objects you would like to incorporate into your design. A sample will be on display before the event. Program is limited to 15 participants for adults and children 8 and up accompanied by an adult. Register at the Circulation desk. Friends members registration begins June 17; non-members June 24.  Friends - $5, non-Friends - $7.
